The sixth edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, was released on the 22nd of March on TopUniversities.com, features a record-breaking 42 disciplines, making it the largest-ever world subject rankings. These rankings provide employers, students, parents, and academics with the most comprehensive insight into global university performance at the subject level. Published annually since 2011, the rankings are based on academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact.
Ukrainian universities feature twice in these tables, making it the first time ever that they have featured in QS’s World Subject Rankings, reports topuniversities.com
The most noteworthy success this year for Ukrainian universities comes from the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music (Kyiv Conservatory). It ranks in QS’s first-ever Performing Arts ranking, in the 51-100 category. In doing so, it can rank itself among regional peers like Hungary’s Liszt Academy of Music and Russia’s Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory in being one of the world’s top-100 places to study Performing Arts.
Ukraine’s other subject success comes in Mathematics. The Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv ranks in the 301-400 category.
In joining the rankings this year, Ukraine becomes one of 60 countries worldwide that are home to universities recognized by QS as providing a world-class education in one or more subjects.
Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) continue to dominate, leading in 24 subjects between them. Each takes twelve leading positions.
The ratings are based on the expert opinion of 76,798 academics and 44,426 employers of academic community, alongside the analysis of 28.5 million research papers and over 113 million citations sourced from the Scopus/Elsevier bibliometric database.
The QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). QS Quacquarelli Symonds have been providing expert insight and analysis for both the higher education and the business sector since 1990.
