Ukrainian city Ivano-Frankivsk is in the list of five best cities of Europe, stated the press service of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council.
Ivano-Frankivsk is among top five candidates to receive the highest award of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe – the honorable prize of Europe.
Created by PACE in 1955, the Europe Prize is the highest distinction that can be bestowed on a European town for its actions in the European domain. The prize consists of a trophy, a medal, a diploma and a scholarship to be spent on a study visit to European institutions for young people from the winning town.
2015 Europe Prize has been awarded jointly to the towns of Dresden in Germany and Vara in Sweden.
This year, among other European cities are Bamberg (Germany), Girona (Spain), Lublin (Poland), Sinzing (Germany).
“A short film covering eurointegration activities of Ivano-Frankivsk will be shot for the final selection stage”, – it is said in the report of the City Council.
PACE will make its final decision on April 19, 2016.

Ivano-Frankivsk , formerly Stanyslaviv, is a historic city located in western Ukraine, built in the mid 17th century. It is the administrative centre of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. Population: 226,018 .
